The Association was formed with the following major aim:

The Promotion and Development of the Cowaramup Central Business District

The CRA has created a strong group of individuals representing various business activities in the commercial centres of Cowaramup. It has created a forum to explore ideas to improve the Cowaramup commercial environment, and for any other entities who have an impact on the town to draw on local business knowledge, experience and expertise.

As a member of CRA, benefits include:

– Networking opportunities with other local business owners
– Social functions and key speaker forums
– Advertising your business on the active CRA website
– Regular opportunities to voice your opinion

In only a short time the CRA is now recognised by the shire and other bodies as an effective mouthpiece for this important sector of the Cowaramup Community.

Since its actual incorporation in March 2004 following inception in July 2003 the CRA has:

-Made submissions to the council regarding the Signage Policy and the Cowaramup Townsite Strategy, and provided representatives to Shire development initiatives.

-Liaised with the Shire to improve signage for toilet facilities and the toilet facilities themselves.

-Initiated strong town support for the successful installation of ADSL to the townsite.

-Recognised the input of the Cowaramup Lions Club to the town, and cooperates with both the Cowaramup Lions Club and the Cowaramup Hall, Reserves and Residents Association.

-Work with the Fusion Festival committee and submitted comment before and after.

-Instigation of improvement to footpaths and laneways.

-Provided a forum for the Cowaramup Business Community to deal with shared issues and discuss new ideas.

-Offered a central point of contact for other groups and people who wish to communicate with the Cowaramup Business Community.

-Host an annual event with Margaret River Chamber of Commerce – After 5 Networking in Cowaramup – to promote local businesses.

-Individual members represent and contribute to discussion and act appropriately on issues that affect the Cowaramup Business Community through various other community and other interest groups.

-Suggested ideas for the Cowaramup Lions Entry statement to encourage people to stop in Cowaramup.

-Encourage awareness of developments and changes around the town.

-Support community activities, including:

-Margaret River Wine Festival Fusion

-Arts Council Sunday Sundowners

-Cowaramup Hall 75th Birthday celebrations

-Opening of the Duggan Pavilion

-Current Projects Under Development

-New Pioneer Park Directional Map

-Streetscape development representation

-Allocation of bus bays
